Xiomy Rodriguez-Fahs

Xiomy is a native of the Dominican Republic. Growing up on the Caribbean island, she learned from her mother how to be true to herself, be positive, stand up, never give up, and that even the little things if done faithfully and with love can change people's lives and even her own. Xiomy has more than 12 years of experience in hotel and restaurant management, with the last seven years in wedding and special events planning, which highlight her passion for serving, helping and interacting with people. She received her bachelor's degree in Tourism Business Administration in 1996. Xiomy moved to Chicago with her husband in September 2004, and shortly thereafter joined the Voices and Faces team and fell in love with the project.

"Interacting with survivors is an honor for me. With every new contact I am touched, admired and humbled by each survivor's story and outright fortitude," says Xiomy. "Every day is a new learning experience because of the people I work with and especially the survivors who want to be part of the project, sharing their stories to help other survivors. It’s rewarding to know that this could be a healing experience for them. The strength and dignity that shine through each story is so inspiring."
