Amanda Klonsky
Amanda is a Chicago-based writer, activist and documentarian and joins The Voices and Faces Project as Audio Producer. She is working with survivors to tell their stories in the form of audio documentaries for the website and for radio.
Amanda majored in Documentary Studies at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where she began her work as an oral historian, interviewing participants in the Black Freedom movement in Mississippi. She has since worked on radio documentaries about men returning to the free world from prison, and survivors of torture in South Africa. Amanda has worked as a community organizer and currently teaches poetry to girls in the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center. She is a writer and teacher.
"My interest in The Voices and Faces Project is driven by a strong belief in the transformative power that survivors have when they come forward and tell their stories," says Amanda.
